…And the Wolf Moon rises
On this quiet November night
The moon of secrets
The moon of bonding
The moon that brings the winter close behind it

The moon that holds open the door
- For mere moments -
Between sacred death and glorious rebirth

The moon when gypsies settle in
Till once again the green tips of newborn leaves
And the sound of freely flowing rivers
Draw all hearts that wander
To the long winding road afresh

As I lay in my bed
And the Wolf Moon flows over me
I can hear with my body
- In my very bones -
Playful yips of pups not yet grown
Of the single voiced mourning song
For pack-mates lost in battle
Or to winter’s steel breath

Of all the Lady’s full glories
This one calls my wilder heart to fly
Across land covered with snow
That has no border

There is a connection that thrums
Just below the surface
Of what has been
And what will be
That brushes the Wolfen heart
Up against immortality.
