David Zvekic - Adrift [Sonnet]
1 Views • Nov 07, 2014
Description
And draw no further from my heart's worn grasp,
Or lose these winds to drift where hopes take hold
Those dreams of land that love has seldom told.
It does me naught to think; I drift therefore,
As dawn begets the day, and love you more,
Bereft of trappings, dropped and cut behind,
For still these weighty nets draw deep my mind
As burdens task and task... Oh, cry demand!
Of questions posed to answer for fairer lands
That currents washed away. My soul bears all
Lost hopes and leaves to drown a bitter pall-
What love has bound my dreams to imperfection
Has left me, lost adrift in your direction.
