I miss the touch you gave
so gentle with your lips
you knew how to
you knew you knew how
to kiss me with your lips
empowered by your soul,
you taught me how to be kind
how to be humble
how to see in light
you made me comfortable in the light.

then the shadows swallowed me whole
from the tiny cracks
that you overlooked,
you never saw it coming
even when you did
because you've always lived in lights,
my life isn't so sugary and it leaves a bitter taste
like something left undone
and something done improperly,
and it has that perfect pinch of salt and sugar
to entrance your lips to take a bite more
hoping to discover
to discover nothing better,
just a bitter heartfelt emptiness
with a fruit that disappeared
right before your eyes.
