David Thomas - Longevity

And here to honor those days
so so long ago,
are the hourglasses so full of time
that forever we will never let go.
To when our jobs were our lives
and our families our wives
we were working men
in a 'man's' world
though secretly run by women i'm sure,
here is to honor those days
when love meant falling wholeheartedly at the start, not the finish
and giving it your all wasn't said
merely as an inspirational phrase,
but as a way of life.
Let's bring those days back.
this world needs our help
and we need it,
so let's start living wholeheartedly
not by the strings of our pants
or the weights of our ankles,
but by the capacity in our hearts
to love, and be loved.
something that i hope
will never, ever be lost.
