David Taylor - Freedom I Cry
5 Views • Nov 07, 2014
Description
I watch the fox roam the yellow lit street
in depth of night it quietly slips by
with a shining in its startled eyes
and then on to the river running by
confined by banks that not so high
are sometimes breached when heavens cry
but with a single minded purpose
keeps on running, running by
until merging with the ocean
gives up running with a sigh
and then the sun shining in the sky
so self reliant, but I know
one day it too must surely die
and join the universal ocean, I.
Cry freedom cry
this is the only way that I can find
that which will fully satisfy
I follow the river as I try
and watch
and let the fox go quietly by.
