David SmithWhite - The Prophet
1 Views • Oct 28, 2014
Description
No fellow thought it funny.
But gave his words to common folk,
who spread it thin like honey.
(The dead weight of messianic cares:
old shoulders share the levy.
And burdened by the cross he bears,
his shoals of fish are heavy) .
For the glory of the Kingdom,
he must be touched by god.
His charms were spiced and hoary;
his wit, a little odd.
(As spring doth feed the craven need,
to seed the shroves of plenty;
the creed of greed will surely breed,
the elites and cognoscenti) .
For the glory of the Kingdom,
the glory of the Lord.
The normal fates are tedium,
to the chosen of the Word.
For the glory of the Kingdom,
the end of days were nigh.
The approach of the new millenium;
the chance of rapture high.
(As summer breaks, the heart will ache.
Black bakes the loaves of envy.
Of the creamy cakes and brim wine lakes,
the rich swim in their whimsy) .
For the glory of the Kingdom,
the glory of the Lord.
The preacher's but a medium,
to stay that mighty sword.
For the glory of the Kingdom.
the martyr dies afire.
A gory death confirms him;
a saint to life's desire.
(Winter distills, the scouring chills;
green grows the groves of envy.
Of the verdant hills and swank idylls,
and the vines that strangle ennui) .
For the glory of the Kingdom,
he'll be revealed divine.
His grim and Waco epitaph,
will cull the sheep from swine.
For the glory of the Kingdom,
the glory of the Lord.
The Prophet's writ of martyrdom,
should keep his fame assured.
