Description

I’ve just sent a message out into the ether.
Over the ‘Net’; down the wire; into the air.
How it works; where it goes, I really don’t know
And to be honest, I really don’t care.
-
I just felt the need to communicate.
I needed to know that someone was there.
And that’s the beauty of the new technology,
You can do it all without leaving your chair.
-
A few clicks on the keypad,
There’s no need even to pick up a pen.
Words appear on the screen and are immediately seen
By God knows who and God knows when.
-
I’ll Twitter and blog till I’m famous,
Become well known for my literary style.
My pearls of wisdom will be carefully studied
From New York…… to the source of the Nile.
-
It takes only a moment for someone to read it,
But that moment is a tremendous resource,
It’s that sprit which binds a communion of minds;
That’s assuming they can read English of course.
-
Er …. I’ve just received a message from out of the ether.
In truth, it’s the only one I’ve had this year.
It says that I should go forth and multiply……
…… perhaps my message was not quite clear.

Poem Notes:

We’re all at it. Modern technology is so amazing that we can all email, blog and twitter away to our hearts content on a 24 hour basis. The whole world it seems is now our oyster and is anxiously awaiting our latest brilliant outpouring or diatribe. You think so? … Really? ….
