David McLansky - Spring
2 Views • Jun 18, 2014
Description
Spring crept round again this season;
The daffodils sprung from the earth
And mocked the snow with nodding mirth;
They bobbed about with yellow heads
And danced above their snowy beds;
The crocuses against the fence
Suggested love might recommence;
Its’ purple-white thrusting flower
Denying death its mortal power;
Chill sun above my plot of garden,
Grant me yet an exile’s pardon;
Consider now my debt as paid
Since both of us knew love betrayed;
Pale breath of winter’s faltering breeze
Dares shake the buds beneath bare trees
