David Harris - Streetlights

The streetlights of a city
stand out like an array of stars.
Each one has a story
to tell us if they could.
They could tell us
of the bad and good
that inhabit everywhere.
They could tell us
of lover’s tiffs
that leave a sad heart
somewhere.
They could tell us this
and a lot more
if only those streetlights
could only talk.
