David DeSantis - ..Rant # 10 on Work

Work,
How horrible you are.
I don’t think I’m cut
From a cubicle mold.

Pointless and stupid,
And to use bigger words
Would be to flatter
much more than I can.

What are these issues
In this two-bit town
And do they think your important
Because their “degreed”.

Well I’m degreed
And I know I’m important
But damned if I know the
Point of this role.

Customer's i have
Fulfillment i don't
Coordinator, im not sure
Just what it
mean's anyway.

In college atleast
I lived to the name.
And I’m sure they'd agree
that filling I did.

But now its work,
And to you I’m relegated
A fancy title and this shaded window.

If I had only tried
Harder in high school,
Skipped a party
And skipped a state school.
Maybe Yale wasn’t calling
But still more than this
And more than this,
I’m positive I’ll find.

Because I’m too neurotic
To be caged like some clown
And
You’re a bitch,
For trying to do so.

I’ll keep biding my time
Maybe put in a year
And at the end of the day
I know I can count

That while you all toil,
Sitting and typing
With ergonomic exercises
And new life dreams

I’ll wait and I’ll wait
just 4 more months
Because one thing I’ve learned
Connections do matter.

Life's not what you know
But who you really know,
And powerful family
Is one thing I have.

So work,
laugh while you can
Because Europe is calling
And it’s calling my name.
