Judged and found guilty and sentence pronounced.
Life for the love I couldn’t denounce.
Pure gentle and true, though tinged with blue.
Is that such a crime, my love for you.

The ring of your laughter’s a beautiful sound.
Its you that makes my whole world go around.
We both saw the writing upon the wall.
But when it all started we’d not planned to fall.

The times we had could not have been better.
So who would believe it could end with a letter.
When we parted I lived in a cloud.
So dark and dank it felt like a shroud.

Lost and alone and empty inside.
Swept along on a cold grey rip tide.
I can’t live with you or give you my name.
But I can’t live without you I can’t stand the pain.

Then when you rang the sun shone anew.
Lifting the clouds as I talked to you.
Tears of joy and relief ran down my face.
It’s nice to be back in the human race.

Now one things for sure, this love is for real.
And time will not heal the feelings we feel.
Illicit love is painful indeed.
But better by far than unfulfilled need.

There is no escaping this prison we’re in.
We’ll be there forever to pay for our sin.
So lock the cell door on our world sweet and warm.
And cuddled together we’ll weather the storm.
