In the night
I hear you cry
I just hope
That you don't die.

I know your pain
I'm in the rain

As days go by.

I wish I was with you
So close I could kiss you
I need you to know
That you can't go.

I know your pain
Is more course than grain
Though you have to stop it
You can defeat it.

I know you feel beat
Like an old torn drum
You sound like you're pale
Much whiter than hail.

I'll be there for you
No matter the weather
So don't even bother
To keep me farther.

I'll comfort you
When you need me to
I find a way to stop the pain
As gently as a crane.
