Daphne Guinness sells off personal wardrobe.
Description
Daphne Guinness, brewery heiress, fashionista and owner of one of the world's most envious wardrobes.
Until now, perhaps.
She is set to sell off some 100 items.
The clean-out, is in aid of a good cause, proceeds will go to the Isabella Blow Foundation, which Guinness set up in memory of her friend who committed suicide in 2007.
SOUNDBITE: Daphne Guinness, fashionista, saying (English):
"I think life is about flow and I'm not someone that is, I'm much more about people rather than things. I do love things. But -- I believe that objects should have more than one life and with different owners. -- This sale is particularly -- has particular resonance for me because of who it's for and for the reasons I'm doing it."
Auction highlights include items from Guinness's shoe collection, designs by Christian Lacroix and the late Alexander McQueen, who she was also close friends with.
Like Isabella Blow, who she shared a passion with in designer clothes, Daphne is also credited for her influence on contemporary fashion.
Christie's fashion director, Pat Frost says Daphne is a team player:
SOUNDBITE: Pat Frost, Director of Christie's Fashion Department, saying (English):
"Daphne is happiest when she is collaborating with an artist, whether it's a photographer -- or a painter or a fashion designer. And when she works with people it tends to be extremely productive. There'll be more coming out than two plus two equals six. So it's very nice to see things that she's personally worked on with designers like McQueen which are unique and which haven't been anywhere else or won't be anywhere else because she also is unique."
The sale of the Guinness Collection is estimated to fetch around 100,000 British Pounds (156,000USD).
All items are on view to the public at Christie's auction house in London, until they go under the hammer on June 27.
