A Knocking Visitor

Time ago while I was napping
Dozing, weakly, I was sleeping
When I heard a gentle sound
Whisper, shout and then a pound

I woke up, a startled wake
'What is it? ' for Peter's sake
Till I saw a hooded face
Stands in what was empty space

Shrouded, dark, his face obscured
Yet cold grin I heard occurred
He was pale, was deathly white
He was wielding one sharp scythe

'It is time', softly I say
'It is time', I heard him say
'Make it quick', then filled me peace
Quick it was, made with such ease
