A lie is bitter
Stain on the soul
Muddies the waters
To what end or goal

Selfish deception
To suit the need
Of a liars web
Woven with greed

A flaw of character
Or lack of couth
The ugly act
Of hiding the truth

Trust is withered
Gone from sight
Such is the consequence
And a liars plight

Yet irony shows
In time will reveal
The wicked ways
Of what is real

Speak with honesty
For better or worse
Live in dignity
And remove the curse
