Daniel Kuetsinya - Stationary

I am in a daze
Even though my eyes gaze,
The past holds me captive,
Fettered by the future so active,
Feet stacked in the sands of Keta.
My mind turns and winds faster,
Nothing helps to hault this motion,
So it continues with much tension.
I wish one sur-mounts the other
But my wish calls for no order.

I cannot recall my bearing,
Although it clogs not my hearing.
I see the lagoon but I am stifled,
I see the sea and I am baffled,
The wind blows but not around me.
Under a fruitless coconut tree,
I looked above the Prinzestein Fort,
I saw the emancipation and comfort.
My feet tremble to move forward,
Yet they refuse to go backward.
