Born on an aeroplane.
At 16 I found myself in New York City. I was sleeping on a timber floor in Brooklyn with eight other people, exploring the diamond lit tornado of the city night, then surfing the hazy subway chaos of the day. New York changed everything for me as it gave me the key to possibility. New York presented the idea that I could be anyone or anything I wanted to be. My first band recorded a demo and at 19 years old, I flew with that demo to Los Angeles, California. I arrived at LAX with some money, a guitar, a suitcase full of clothes and copies of my demo. I had a friend in Pasadena who had a Spearmint coloured 1967 Ford Mustang, he drove my naive arse to every record company we could find in Southern California. I got myself a ticket to ride and jumped on a Greyhound bus full of strangers heading to North California. After spending much time up north, I returned back to Australia to rethink my master plan. The band split and left me with two choices; give up or go solo. At 22 years old I went solo, recorded new songs and got myself to Europe. In Europe I found out how to brand myself and get my music out there to more people. I met many a new friend, experienced many new things and I decided. I decided who I was going to be, what I was going to do and how I was going to do it.
