Description

Wind rushes past me, whispering
Stories of sailors lost at sea.
Rain drizzles, wetting the path
I am taking; it doesn't bother me.

My jacket - a dark
Cream colour, now spotted with rain -
Protects me from these
Depressing Elements.

I leave the well-trodden path,
A diversion through an overgrown
Short cut to the pebbles of
The deserted beach.

And the salty spray hits me:
Invigorated, I regress to my
Childhood - a happy time.
I laugh aloud.

But the wind brings it
Straight back to me, buffeted
And blown into a desperate
Cry of solitude.

And it rains; tear drops
Falling from heaven.
I catch them. despairing
My loss.

All the hopes I once had
Are dashed and dissolved
By these divine tears.
And I cry.

Bending down, picking up a
Smooth, rounded pebble,
I Throw it out to sea;
Watching it sink

Like my hopes, dreams.
I turn away;
rain-drenched, I return home.
And it rains, again.
