and as the parade marches,
the tides rise to believe matches are better than lighters.
its not your everyday 'personification' when letter turn to numbers.
so I need you to keep quiet and fly
higher than the dandelions in this spring sky.

and as the time runs,
chase it.
the match is running short, like time you know?
we're slowly becoming failures but its so perfect,
and God knows that we know we want to be.
we're matches,
we're running out of ammunition.
no time.

and as the song plays,
the lighters breathe faster.
you're the cinder block on the tires of my car,
but you want me to snowball downhill.
then maybe I can crash,
so I can be with you.
the lighter is deep
its beautiful, like the fire it sparks.
and guess what, we've made one on our own.

and as the parade ends,
the matches die out
but the lighter remains.
we've lit a match,
and sparked the flames,
now all we have to do is sleep on platitude songs,
'cause I know
that this songs bass line is over,
and the lyrics are gone,
then after that,
our match, our lighter, and our song,
will swim in kerosene.
then they'd make fire;
now its back to step one
when the parade marches all over.
