Dan Brown - Broken

Broken down, like a fallen tree struck
By lightning in a storm, out of luck.
Smashed to bits, blown apart,
Cracked wide open to reveal its heart.

Broken dreams, those hopes of mine,
Those ideas and visions, I planned to shine.
Now they're gone, through deep unrest,
It'll be harder now, to be one of the best

Broken heart, shunned by those
Supposed to love me, they deal cruel blows.
Words can hurt, and theirs hurt more,
From my own parents, they're stinging and sore.

Broken trust, they were meant to care.
Meant to love me, to always be there
For me to talk to, to rely on,
They pushed me away, the trust has gone.

Broken home, didn't think I'd see,
The day destruction came to me.
It won't be an excuse, that's not fair,
But being forced out is hard to bear.

Broken mind, it's hit me hard,
I can't find a single shard
Of glass with which I'd ease my pain.
I lost lots more, than I stood to gain.

Broken man, it's not my fault,
A gaping wound, awaiting salt.
I wonder if, and when it heals,
I'll feel what everyone else feels.
