Description
Ingredients:
1. pigeon pea (tuvar/arhar dal) - 1 medium bowl
2. garlic - 2 cloves
3. turmeric powder - 1/4 tea spoon
4. coriander powder - 1 tea spoon
5. cooking or refined oil - 1 table spoon
6. mustard seeds - 1/2 tea spoon
7. cumin seeds - 1 tea spoon
8. ginger - 1/2 inch
9. garlic - 2 cloves
10. green chilly - 2
11. onion - 1 small bulblet
12. tomato - 1 medium size
13. salt - to taste
14. water - 2-3 medium bowls
15. coriander leaves - 1 stalk
16. clarified butter (ghee) - 2 table spoons
17. kashmiri red chilly powder - 1/2 tea spoon
Procedure:
1. take ample water in a pressure cooker
2. boil 1 medium bowl pigeon pea in it
3. add the following ingredients-
a. grated garlic (2 cloves)
b. 1/4 tea spoon turmeric powder
c. 1 tea spoon coriander powder
4. cover the cooker to cook pigeon pea until 4 whistles
5. heat 1 table spoon cooking or refined oil in a pan
6. add the following ingredients-
a. 1/2 tea spoon mustard seeds
b. 1/4 tea spoon cumin seeds
c. grated ginger (1/2 inch)
d. chopped garlic (2 cloves)
e. 2 chopped green chillies
f. finely chopped onion (1 small bulblet)
7. toss all the ingredients and cook for 2 minutes
8. add finely chopped tomato (1 medium size)
9. toss and cook it for a minute
10. add salt to taste, and stir
11. add the boiled pigeon pea
12. add some water to it, and stir
13. after it starts boiling, add coriander leaves (1 stalk)
14. stir and take it off the flame
15. pour the dal in a bowl
16. for tadka; heat 2 table spoons clarified butter (ghee) in a pan
17. add the following ingredients-
a. 1/2 tea spoon cumin seeds
b. 1/2 tea spoon kashmiri red chilly powder
18. pour the tadka on the cooked pigeon pea, and serve
