Daisy Lyne Thakerby - Masks

We live in a swirl of Masks.
In the Daylight Masks shine and dance about
showing off white-teeth grins
and playfully joking expressions
Never letting you wonder,
wonder if there's even a hint of sorrow.

But, Day burns down to night
and scorches the flawless fronts.
Moonlight now shines
and, like a truth mirror,
exposes the Masks for
what they really are.

Now, all that's left
are damaged, desperate people
aching for Daylight.
