Daisy Lyne Thakerby - Flame's Message

I am a flame.
My tongue licks and caresses,
My light burns heat and
Sends it to your cheeks.
Smokey silk lifts into the air.
My fingers to lips, leaving
Charred and dry. I have no sound,
Just the silent burning that sends you on edge.

My anger is fury, thundering
And crackling. This Hell will never freeze over.
The Devil claims me as his own.
My fury has colored countless pictures
Of the fiery afterlife.

After time, my anger calms and my
Violent burns are reduced to lapping waves
That comfort and sooth the air about you.

Flame, the Moving Force of Nature,
It will continue to push the begrudgingly
Bashful world along its path.
C’est la vie. Such is life.
Continuing and moving on, I say.

Soft licks and angry crackles,
Silky air and charred lips.
I am a flame.
