Dairedee Burris - Coffee and Cigarettes
31 Views • Jun 18, 2014
Description
table, which had belonged to
her mother,
a cigarette between careless fingers, and
a chipped mug with cheap coffee in
the others.
weak sunlight slunk through
cracked glass, projecting patterns of
another day.
she stared, unfocused, out into the
world; dreaming as if still clinging to
the night.
what would her mother say
about the rings on her table, but none
encircling fingers?
she left the coffee grow cold, and
the cigarette burn down, daydreaming her
life away.
