On the rocks
Standing above sea-cold sand
Mute all-staring lighthouse
At my back
I too looked out
Into the aging afternoon
Of blues and clouds
And laughing birds
Thinking how these endings
Always come
While the world joins in
Like the sympathy of a
Vampire
Sourceless echoes
From a half-lit cave

All the world grew up with me
Still needing a friend
After aeons

Someone anyone could care
But we who do speak
Must reach with words
Lacking trust in other wisdom
Going beyond words
We are offended
Pretending otherwise
We are said to get along

But a house is mostly made of
Doors that slam one in
One out
Like words these things
We build our houses on

Somewhere in some great
Parallel
There is a sea of love
In a world void of hope
And without
Shores that separate
