New Airasia CEO Appointed
On 17th March 2016 AirAsia India appointed Amar Abrol as its chief executive officer (CEO). He will take incharge from 1 April 2016. Abrol has succeeded Mittu Chandilya.

Curfew during Songkran festival 2016
World's biggest water fight festival, Songkran is celebrated in Thailand. It is celebrated as the traditional New Year's Day from 13 to 15 April.
At present, Thailand is facing its worst water shortage in two decades. Due to this Bangkok Metropolitan Administration has decided to impose a curfew during the festival season. The curfew imposed will show cooperation with the farmers hit by drought. The Bangkok authority has cut festival days down from four to three and imposed a curfew.

Goan Feni declared as Heritage Spirit of Goa
Goa government on 17 March 2016 classified the country liquor, Feni as Heritage Spirit of Goa. Feni is the form of spirit(alcohol) produced exclusively in the coastal state.
Feni is the first liquor product in the country to obtain such status and got its Geographical Indication certification in 2000.
It used in various cultural traditions, cuisines and is well known for its medicinal value also. Feni is a brew made from coconut or cashew fruits and is synonymous with the Goan ethos and identity.

FCI’s Depot Online System launched
On 17 March 2016, Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Ram Vilas Paswan launched the Online Depot System in New Delhi to automate all the operations of Food Corporation of India depots.
The key objective of the Depot Online System is to align with Digital India vision for transformation of food distribution supply chain in India.
This system will bring transparency in the working of FCI. Besides, it will also help in better monitoring and supervision to reduce leakages and losses.

MOU between Ministry of Railways and ISRO
The Ministry of Railways and Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on 17 March 2016 signed a Memorandum of Understanding regarding Effective Use of Space Technology in Remote Sensing and Graphic Information System (GIS) based Governance Application for Indian Railways.
The MoU aims for developing applications in the field of remote sensing and GIS for remote sensing at unmanned railway crossing including, all geospatial solutions and customized software solutions for providing reliable, efficient and optimal solutions to Railways in its various areas of operation thereby benefiting the rail user.

TCS official technology partner for Virgin Money London Marathon
The Virgin Money London Marathon is a long-distance running event held in London, United Kingdom.
On 17 March 2016 Tata Consultancy Services announced a three year partnership with the Virgin Money London Marathon. The aim of the partnership is to enhance the digital experience delivered to marathon participants.
