Crypto For Ukraine
Description
A refugee shelter located in Montenegro has raised over $43,500 in various crypto to assist Ukrainian refugees displaced by the Russian invasion. The shelter, Pristaniste, organized and operated by Russian activists, opened on March 5th after the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Initially, it did not have a bank account in Montenegro, so the organizers started a cryptocurrency fundraiser. By July, the donations exceeded $53,000, which was twice as much as the $21,000 raised in fiat. Using crypto is a more efficient means of funding its aid efforts because it is immediately available, while funds from bank accounts abroad take longer to access.
