Crops wither from Mayon ashfall

Crops in Barangay San Rafael, Guinobatan town in Albay wither from the ashfall caused by Mayon Volcano’s ongoing pyroclastic density current (PDC). Mayor Gemma Ann Ongjoco told The Manila Times on May 9, 2026 that 98,000 families had been affected while a vast track of agricultural crops had been destroyed by the ashfall. Grace P. Teaño, Guinobatan town municipal agriculturist, said crop damage was estimated at P54 million.
