The Tobago House of Assembly intends to rent two fishing vessels equipped for Coast Guard patrols along Tobago's coastlines, while vehicles are to be provided to the Coast Guard and the police. Chief Secretary Farley Augustine said this has become necessary due to a shortage of national security apparatus in Tobago which is supposed to be provided by the Ministry of National Security. This decision was announced on Thursday, following a high level meeting to tackle the escalating crime situation on the island. More in this Elizabeth Williams report.
