Crash plane voice recorder found

The cockpit voice recorder from the Russian Sukhoi Superjet 100 was found a week after the aircraft crashed on a remote volcano in Indonesia.

It's hoped the device, one half of the 'black box' flight recorder system, will help investigators find out why the plane went down.

Indonesian officials involved with the search and recovery operation say the other part, the flight data recorder, has yet to be discovered.

SOUNDBITE: DARYATMO, HEAD OF NATIONAL SEARCH AND RESCUE AGENCY, SAYING (Bahasa Indonesia):

"I've asked the controllers in the field and all the rescuers, especially the teams from the military and police, to continue searching for the flight data recorder and to continue the evacuation process."

More than 40 passengers and crew were on board the aircraft when it crashed on May 9th during a demonstration flight.

They included Indonesians, Russians, two Italians, a French national and one American.

There were no survivors.

Recovery teams have been painstakingly finding the remains of the victims in the heavily-forested, steep terrain and airlifting them to Jakarta.
