Craig Anderson - The Coma

I'm waiting the last bus home
Curry for the Mrs; Chinese for me.
Voices coming closer
Shouting and arguing mostly.

I heard the voices clearly
That's the last thing I remember.
Except I was worried it was getting cold
It was unusually cold at the end of September.

I remember hearing conversations
Of some poor guys kin
About being a total cabbage
And there was nothing that could be done for him.

With all the technology they have today
I was really shocked at that
So I decided to open my eyes
Get it sorted lend a hand ya'know off the bat.

But I was in total darkness
But I could hear my Marys voice
I called out to her she nearly screamed
I kissed her face it was moist.

Why are you crying Mary
Put the light on and pass my phone
They are on Paddy don't you remember
You got mugged on the way home.

But your out the coma now...finally. Thank God!
I'll take care of you now I don't mind
You see Paddy they beat you so bad
They beat you till you were blind.

Is mam and pappy coming down
I sensed something in her voice among the tears
Their both dead Paddy I'm sorry love
But you've been in a coma for twenty three years.
