Cough medicines containing pholcodine have been recalled

Anaesthetists are welcoming the recall of dozens of cough medicines by the Therapeutic Goods Administration due to a potentially life-threatening ingredient. There are more than 50 over the counter cough medicines containing the chemical pholcodine which can cause deadly allergic reactions in people under general anaesthetic.
