COP 2015 Opening Ceremony - Taiwan Performance

Community Outreach Program is an inter-discipline activity set to connect the academic theories with the actual social life and development problems as a service-learning experience. This program is conducted as a supporting medium to foster community development. The functions, objectives and goals of COP given below illustrate its basic philosophy which is expected to direct and control the way of thinking and the way of doing of COP participants.


VISION
Facilitating the process of learning to gain the personal growth, peace building, and cultural understanding in order to foster civil responsibility.


MISSION
* Help students to understand the rule of higher education in application of science, technology and arts in real life is an inseparable institution from the community.
* Provide a learning experience for students by placing them in the community - where COP is located, to help solve the problems and empower the local communities.
* Increase students’ intellectual capacity in doing research, analysis, and scientific problem solving in building a dynamic society.
* Provide a learning experience for students to be a capable communicator in various social levels, cultural, and religion backgrounds.


GOALS
* To enhance students’ learning by integrating theory with experience and thought with action, so that they can see the relevance of the academic subject to the real world.
* To develop an environment of a mutually respectful participation among students, faculties, and the communities.
* To bring students into the reality of societal inadequacies and empower them to find solutions on those.
* To increase the civic and citizenship awareness, and the skills of students.
* To provide cross-cultural and peace building experiences for students.
* To make students better prepared for their career by building life long learning attitude.
