Cooper vows crackdown on students misusing asylum system

Description

Home Secretary Yvette Cooper said the government will crack down on international students applying for asylum after their visas expire. She said around 15,000 students do so each year “even though nothing has changed” in their home countries. Cooper said genuine refugees will be supported, but the asylum system must not be “misused by students who simply want to stay for longer”. Report by Covellm.
