Conversion Therapy Paid in New York

On Saturday, New York Governor, Andrew Cuomo released a statement that the state of New York has now taken executive against against "conversion therapy" practices on minors. It is now illegal for private and public health insurance agencies to pay for such therapies that are aimed to alter sexual orientation or gender identity. New York has been a leader of the gay rights movement, and Cuomo said, such therapies are "hateful and fundamentally flawed practice that is counter to everything this state stands for.” He continued to say these practices have "been linked to youth substance abuse, depression, homelessness, and even suicide."
