Consumer Brands Increase Prices
Description
Brands like Pepsi ($PEP@US) and Levi Strauss ($LEVI@US) are among those raising prices to offset inflation. Freight and raw material costs are skyrocketing as inflation plagues markets across the globe. Andrea Teixeira of J.P. Morgan ($JPM@US) said, “We expect margin pressure to be the predominant theme through the rest of this earnings season.” She also said, “Pepsi is feeling and will continue to feel the impact of inflationary pressures and supply chain challenges.” Even so, Pepsi stock was up almost a percent and Levi Strauss stock rose nearly 8 and a half percent in early trading.
