Consider This: Selangor (Part 3) — Improving Representative Democracy
Description
The Selangor state government has proposed a motion to increase the number of seats in the State Assembly. This as it marks an increase of close to 90,000 new voters every month, due to automatic registrations. Which means that the state’s number of registered votes - standing at 3.6 million currently - will reach 4.6 million in 12 months. But will adding more constituencies improve the functioning of representative democracy? Melisa Idris and Sharaad Kuttan speak to Thomas Fann, Chairperson, The Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections (BERSIH 2.0).
