Description
The Penang state government is introducing an initiative to nominate women for the state legislative assembly, if there is fewer than 30% female representation among elected assemblypersons. The nomination would be based on the percentage of popular votes won by a party in an election. The is to ensure that there will be at least 30% women representation in the state legislative assembly. Melisa Idris and Sharaad Kuttan speak to Chong Eng, Padang Lalang ADUN and State Exco, Penang.
