On February 13 the Federal Court ruled on the long-running "Bin Abdullah" case in which working-class parents are fighting for the right for their child - deemed 'illegitimate' by the state - to have his father's name. Complex legal and social issues emerge in this and similar cases. Melisa Idris and Sharaad Kuttan speak to Nizam Bashir, a Constitutional expert and lawyer for the family.
