Conservative Party Chairman defends Russian donation
Description
Conservative Party Chairman Oliver Dowden has defended receiving donations from British and Russian citizen Lubov Chernukhin, who is married to Putin's former deputy finance minister Vladimir Chernukhin. It is understood Mrs Chernukhin has donated around £2m to the Conservatives since 2012, including £80,250 last year. Mr Dowden said the party complies "totally with electoral law", and that Mrs Chernukhin has condemned Putin's actions in the most 'forthright way'.
