Conrad Murray regains his freedom

Michael Jackson's personal physician was released from a Los Angeles jail after serving half of a four-year sentence for his role in the 2009 death of the pop star.

Conrad Murray was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in 2011 for administering a lethal dose of a surgical anesthetic to Jackson.

He was released after two years under a system to curb prison overcrowding.

Murray's six-week trial captivated Jackson supporters after the "Thriller" singer died unexpectedly while preparing for a series of comeback concerts in London.

Although his license to practice has been suspended in California, Nevada and Texas, his attorney said he hopes to practice again.
