Concern as Indian airlines post record losses
15 Views • Jul 28, 2012
Description
The world's airline industry has been seriously effected by the global economic crisis and the rising cost of oil.
Recent financial losses posted by some of India's carriers have the markets worried, the government concerned and the airlines themselves looking for help.
The government has ruled out a financial bailout, knowing that tax payers would not be happy helping private companies survive at their expense. Other options include seeking foreign investment, something the authorities have rejected in the past.
Al Jazeera's Sohail Rahman reports from New Delhi.
