Comedy genius Robin Williams dies aged 63

US actor and comedian Robin Williams has died at the age of 63. He was found dead at his home in California on Monday – police suspect suicide by asphyxiation.

Williams was considered a comedy genius as well as a dramatic actor. He was famous for a whole range of films from Good Morning Vietnam to Dead Poets Society.

Although a regular stand-up comedian and known for his zany roles, he won an Oscar in 1998 for best supporting actor as a therapist in Good Will Hunting.

Hollywood has been shocked by the news of his death, however Williams had suffered from bouts of depression and had struggled with alcohol and drugs.
He had recently had a spell in a rehabilitation centre .

His wife Susan Schneider said she was “utterly heartbroken”. Williams had three children from previous marriages.
