It's that time again. After a short break, we continue our journey to the present.

In the UK, many music genres have been restyled into a rougher, “British” version of themselves. The same happened with Blues Rock in the late sixties, which got restyled into #hardrock . This happened simultaneously with the shutdown of UK’s pirate radios of the sixties. Subsidized radio stations after this closure preferred a palette of Pop Rock and Soft Rock and created a hiatus for heavier, more alternative music. Hard Rock filled that gap with a louder and faster kind of Blues Rock / Acid Rock and is therefore the missing link between these genres and Heavy Metal.

So long story short. In the late 60’s we have to endure a concert by the "Hungry Hearts!”

Ben is at a live concert by Hungry Hearts. The notorious all-female band is known for one rumor: they eat their roadies. Of course, he dismisses that; it's just part of their rough, predatory image. It suits them.

Their last song, the new “Come Along!” makes the walls shake. Ben closes his eyes and lets himself be overwhelmed by the raw scream of lead singer Mickie Slade, who snarls at the audience about her next meal. Then he feels a wave of hot breath on his skin. Saliva splatters on his cheek.

His eyes snap open.. From the stage, Mickie's sharp, glitter-painted fingernail points directly at him. She beckons him to follow her backstage. The band plays one last, monstrous riff as her lips form the words that you can hear above the noise, and feel in your bones:

“I’M GONNA EAT YOU UP.”

Ben has been reported missing since that night, but it's an open secret where (or rather, where-IN!) he ended up.
