Colombia security threats persist
6 Views • Jun 02, 2012
Description
Since Alvaro Uribe became president in 2002 and stepped up military efforts to overcome the Farc, the leftist group has lost much of its fighting force and influence in the country.
However, as Al Jazeera's Tereso Bo reports from Valle del Cauca, a region in the country's west, fighting between the two sides is far from over.
The conflict continues to be a major security issue as Colombia goes to the polls to elect a new president who will inherit the Farc challenge from Uribe.
