Colombia: Demining Roadmap Agreement Reached

In what is an historical accord, representatives of the Colombian government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) have reached agreement on a road map to de-mine the countryside. The pilot program will begin in the northern-central department of Antioquia and the central department of Meta. Landmines are reported to be found in at least half of the country's municipalities and between 1995-2015 some 11,043 Colombians were injured or killed by mines, the highest figure in the world. Meanwhile, at least 40 people were reportedly killed in a mudslide in northwestern Colombia. Authorities in Salgar said the death count could rise. teleSUR
