Colombia bans bullfighting

Colombia’s parliament has passed a law banning bullfighting over the next three years.

Celebrations were held in parliament and on the streets as the ban was passed into law.

Critics say the ban is damaging to the economy, against cultural traditions and the freedoms of minorities. Ecuador, France, Mexico, Peru, Portugal, Spain and Venezuela still permit bullfighting.
