The last train comes and goes
While hidden in the darkness
Down a midnight leafy country lane
On a melancholy moonless night
Waits the vampire hungry for prey.

Pools of pale light
Small islands within the dreaded dark
Glow from gothic street lamps
But there is no protection
Without a crucifix and garlic.

Footsteps echo down the lane
As the solitary passenger from the train
Heart quickened with a knowing dread
Walks with rapid nervous steps
Fearing what is lurking within the darkness.
