Coen Carter - Nameless City

I’ve woke upon the sheets of shame
Cried my tears in pouring rain
What’s to become of this broken city
Nameless, shameless and full of pity
How can I tell her why I’m inhuming
The bleeding heart in which she’s grooming
I’ve laid awake in tragic eyes
To breath the soft vanilla skies
I’ve watched a moon so full and bright
Start to fall and regain its flight
I’ve swam the ocean with no breath
And learnt somehow to embrace it’s death
I’ve felt its ripples turn to waves
And watched them crash and drown the caves
I’ve felt the sun and its warm embrace
And lived my life at blistering pace
Her bones now will start to rust
And her city streets return to dust
The stars will fade make way for dawn
And my nameless city will be reborn.
