Clutching at straws

Burma's ever deteriorating political, social, and economic situation is forcing Burmese people, including ethnic Kachins, to leave their country in search of greener pastures in foreign countries, including Burma's neighbour, India. Braving the grueling living conditions in New Delhi as urban refugees, Kachins feel more secure in comparison to the hopeless situation in Burma. Though only a few Kachins are seen among the over 2,500 Burmese refugees in Delhi, they continue their struggle in the face of insurmountable odds clutching at hopes.
